Asus A8N-SLI-Deluxe Issues...

I can't get Windows to see my Creative Labs Soundblaster Live cards. I've tried 2 PCI slots & nothing.

One card I've had for years & never had a problem with it...The 2nd card I bought today to test it & I had the same results...

I doubt I have a new board with 2 defective PCI slots...Anyone else experience something similar to this? If so, what was the solution?

I've installed the ASUS drivers & the onboard sound works fine...I've disabled it & still nothing works...

I'm running Windows XP (SP2).

Thanks...

The A8N-SLI Deluxe comes with onboard audio, surely the SB Live! can't sound THAT much better :)

Do the cards work in any other computers? (I know you pulled the first from elsewhere, but it may have gotten zapped)

The 1st card was working just fine the other day in another system. I had some serious issues with that system, so I built another one. Sure, the card could have been zapped, but what about the card I just bought today? Windows won't acknowledge the new card either.

I'm actually going to use the onboard sound moving forward (use the $25 towards more RAM :) But I just want to know that my PCI slots aren't defective.

did you disable the on board audio in the bios before you tried the cards?
