yay another beta! if this doesnt fix the 1t problem, im ordering the msi or dfi sli board tonight. most likely the K8N Neo4 Platinum SLI. seems like a sweet board that will do 1t no problem from what ive heard.

EDIT: just tried it. blue screen at 250 1t. ordered the msi 5 minutes ago. dont get me wrong its a great board if you dont plan to overclock. mine will be for sale on the forums soon, at a cheap price im sure.

Yeah, that is pretty much what I think was concluded in the recent SLI Roundup article here on AT.

http://www.anandtech.com/mb/showdoc.aspx?i=2358

Also, as for the 1T vs. 2T thing, the article says it is more a function of what the on board memory controller on the A64 chips can handle as opposed to the motherboard. Are you running with 2 DIMMS or 4?

Here is what the article says:

"The Asus K8N-SLI was completely stable at 2-2-2-7 memory timings. We did have to lower the Command Rate to 2T, but this is a function of the on-chip Athlon 64 memory controller. It is rumored that upcoming Rev. E chips will have an updated memory controller capable of driving 4 DIMMs at 1T command rate, which would definitely improve memory performance when running 4 DIMMs."

Does this version have a better description of what was changed / fixed than they posted for the 1005-003 version? All it said for that one was something like "Latest Beta bios." I flashed to the 1005-003 the other day and so far no problems with that one.

no one can run 1t over 250 on this board, not even with fx's.

It really is a shame/annoying that Asus doesnt post changelogs for beta BIOSes. They seem to do it only on final releases. Bastards... :p

Does anyone have anything to say about this new beta BIOS?

I'm wondering if I should even bother flashing, or just wait. I'm using 1005.003 and have a decent OC going. I dont wanna mess with it unless theres good reason to believe this beta is worth flashing to...

Still unable to go over 240 stable :(

I begin to think that It won't never happen with this board

I think you guys should do real-world benchmarks comparing 1T vs 2T. Sure, memory bandwidth is a lot higher with 1T but the Athlon 64 is not necessarily bandwidth starved.

1T will dominate 2T in almost any situation on the a64 platform. When I was first trying various things to discover my max o/c, I did all my memory testing @ 2T, and once I switched back to 1T it was a huge difference. General use seemed to be a little better, but the biggest increase I felt came in gaming and ripping DVDs.

I'm thinking CAS latency and Command Rate are the most important mem timings regardless of platform... pretty sure, anyways.

Man, so many threads in this forum go WAY off topic.

Does anyone notice anything different in this beta BIOS as opposed to the previous beta, or 1004 final?

CAS latency seems to make less difference than you'd think, while 1T is worth giving up quite a lot for. This was true on the NF3 as well.
