I have the mentioned mobo and would much like to have the 5.1 sound working correctly.
My first question would be if there is anyone that doesn't experience any problems with 5.1 sound. I'd very much like to hear what drivers you are using and how you have them set up.
I'm using latest NV drivers for mobo and latest Realtek AC97 drivers. I use Zalman's 5.1 headset through analog connection and Logitech Z-5500 through optical SPDIF.
My problems:
1) Even though I have everyting set up for 5.1 speakers, Windows audio grays out the volume controls for rear speakers and front / sub speakers.
2) The volume controls work fine besides being grayed out, but sound level is WAY stronger (louder) for front speakers than for the other 4. I have to adjust them to about 1/4 to have about the same power levels as for the other 4.
3) I can't seem to make my WinDVD play DVDs with 5.1 over optical SPDIF. What program are you using? I realize generated sounds (games / other apps) will get downsampled to stereo, but DVDs have dedicated DDS and AC3 streams which can just get forwarded. AC3 Filter works fine for instance (DivX with AC3 audio).
Anybody here that can help me with this?
Thanks
