You did not state whether this system was an existing one in which you were just replacing the battery, an existing PC that you just upgraded, or a completely new build. In the future, you really need to make that clear and state your PC's parts in order for people to attempt to get an idea of what the problem is. YoIts' hard to know what path to take if you don't know where you're starting from. That said, I don't have an A8N-SLI nor have I ever looked at the manual for it. However, since you replaced the CMOS battery the first thing I would check would be:
(1) That the CMOS reset jumper is in the correct position (i.e. set to retain settings).
(2) That the CMOS battery is properly seated and making full contact. A loose CMOS battery can be hard to detect (and drive you crazy)! Even if it "looks" properly seated when you remove the case cover, take the CMOS battery out and re-seat it. There may be minor vibration/resonation inside your PC at power-up that causes the battery to "jump" in it's contacts thus causing the checksum error. Thin, I know, but within the realm of possibility. Thats all I can think of with what you have stated. More than likely it is #1 above. Good luck.
