ASUS A8N-SLI: Can I have 4-ch audio AND my headset at the same time?

I don't have any front-panel audio jacks on my case...

So, with that said, I'm wondering if I could somehow configure the on-board audio to support front and rear line-outs, a headset line-out, and a microphone in. The end result would be 4 ch audio on my speakers, plus head support (2ch plus microphone).

Is this possible?

A headset line out would be just your fronts, so if the MB can't split the signal you can just get a Y-splitter from ratshack.

Hmmm, is there anything that can be done software-wise to switch a line-in jack to a line-out jack anything? It seems this motherboard can do everything... but I'd be amazed if they didn't include a setting for this.

So, ideally I'd like 4-ch audio to my four speakers, but then have another jack COMBINE the 4 channels into 2-ch for my headphones. If I'm using 4-ch audio on my speakers but my headphones only have the front two channels, then I'm completely missing out on the rear channel audio...no?

FrontX looks cool, but I don't think you really need to do that...

Here's a quote from the RealTek page about the ALC850 chip:

Two integrated 50mW/20ohm headphone audio amplifiers provide high-quality personal audio listening. Utilizing Universal Audio Jack® technology, Line-In and Mic-In can also serve as Headphone-Out with an amplifier advantage.

I've tried using this but it doesn't seem to work. More specifically, I selected "4 speakers" in the RealTek Sound Manager and then plugged in my headphones into -every- other jack aside from front-out and rear-out. I even ran the connections test thing, but nothing seemed to work.

However, I'm still afraid that even if it does work that it will only contain output for the front. If you're playing a 4-channel game then you need ALL four channels in the headphones, not just the fronts...
