ASUS A8N-E or MSI Neo4 Platinum

Hello, I am trying to decide bewteen the ASUS A8N-E or the MSI Neo4 for my first build

MSI Pros -
More SATA ports
Better looking mobo (black PCB)
Nice features and software (Live Update)
Better overclocking options than ASUS (AFAIK)

ASUS Pros -
Stable at stock
More reliable (some say)

Basically, I want to be able to get this rig up and running as fast as possible with the best chance of not running into any major problems. This is one of the reasons I decided not to go with DFI. The only thing that really turns me off of the A8N-e is that ugly puke green PCB 😛 . Keep in mind that I also am not looking to overclock much now. This doesn't mean that I won't eventually want to overclock though.

So which would you recommend?

I can't help you much but to say I disagree with the two ASUS pros. The MSI board is also stable at stock, and ASUS hasn't been "more reliable" for a long time now.

When it comes to stability make sure you pick the right PSU and memory (check for compatibility with the motherboard). If you pick these two items correctly the chances of having board-related problems are very slim.

MSI. You can use DOT(Dynamic Overclocking Technology) on the MSI board which automatically overclocks your CPU under heavy load so that way you don't have to worry about overclocking it your self. And there are different DOT levels in the bios. Mine is set at Sergent which is just a 3% overclock. But if you do decide to overclock manually you will have to turn off DOT.

I have the NF Ultra MSI board of this line and it is stable at stock. Easy setup, took about 30 mins to get running out of the box(aside from windows install, but you expect a long time on that) core cell is a very nice program for monitoring voltages and heat. Also live update is kinda nice.
