Asus A8N-E and Ram Placement

OK, I'm new at this, well, this part of it anyway. When installing 2 sticks of 1GB each into a Asus A8N-E, which slots do I use? I read the instructions as saying they don't go next to each other. Thanks.

Well....youd have to do some research and figure out which slots are dual-channel mode for that mobo. Normally you match the colors up for dual-channel mode. On my mobo, its both slots next to eachother for dual-channel mode. On others its the opposite slots for DC mode. You can check easily in cpuz in windows after you boot up if you didnt know how. CPUZ will tell you if its running single or DC mode.

Shouldnt be that hard to figure out. Put them in any slots, boot up, see if its in dual-channel mode(assuming you want that), then shut down and rearrange if need be.

dual channel on that board is 1 stick in each of the blue slots.im running the same motherboard and its a great board.o/clocks well.im at 250htt 1 to 1 with ram.cpu at 2500mhz.best all around ultra board out.

good luck! i know i had trouble with ram at first. i didnt know what the heck i was doing because my board had dual channel right next to each other instead of the other way where its not together

Man, could you help me out with the bios settings? just built my rig a few days ago..

3700_ a64 San Diego... running 27C idle no cool-n-quiet enabled. A8N-E v2 1010bios from newegg last week. Just need some things to try in the bios.. totally unfamiliar with it.. coming from an Abit NF7..

550w antec PSU- weird ram config, but great ram..(in sig).. running 2-3-3-7 200hmz 2t now because not sure what to do with this bios, CPU multi locked I believe, at least for the BIOS.. don't want to do windows GUI OC'ing.

Thanks, I am not getting e-mail thread update notifications..

I have gotten this CPU up to 2.85ghz no prob.. Even though the OCZ guy at DriverHeaven said I should be in dual mode (which he says will allow me to run 1T) - it is not and will not. I imagine it is because I have 3 sticks of ram.. Still, I should be able to run 1T in single channel mode it seems like!?!


Oh well- I guess I need to just get 2x 1gig sticks.. but I will not be able to afford ram as nice as I have now and get 2gigs of it. This stuff cost a crap load as it is.

Hmm.. I heard about a "1T" bug with this A8N-E.. has anyone know anything about that?
