I have ASUS A8N-E mobo and AMD X2 3800+. I'm planning to upgrade my memory from 1gb to 1.5gb. Now I have Dual Channel kit installed, 2 x 512mb (GeIL, with timings 2,5-3-3-6 and 1T) and i'm going to insert another pair, from the same manufacturer, with same timings, but ,instead of 2 x 512mb, 2 x 256mb.
In result i'm gonna have 2x512 on one channel and 2x256 on second channel which means all 4 dimm slots will be occupied.
Would such configuration work well? (installing 2x1gb is not an option for me, so please don't mention it - i know it would be better, but i simply can not afford it)
I've heard some rumours about potential system instability or, even worse, not being able to boot up with memory installed in all four slots - what's the truth? Thank You very much for answering my questions!
