I have an Asus A7V running the newest bios from the asus web site, and it won't correctly recognize an 80gb maxtor ata 100 drive. windows 98 fdisk thinks its a 12gb drive. anyone experience the same issues? I'd like to stay away from the maxblast software if possible - i'd rather the mbr's be standard lba.

thanks.

did you update the promise ata 100 drivers? Have you tried it connected to the ata 66 channel?

yep, first thing i did was the install the new promise drivers right after i flashed the bios.. after that didnt' work, i thought maybe it had to do with the some compatibility issues between win98 and ata 100 so i plugged it into the 66 channel - but to no avail.

if i remember right there is fix for this on windowsupdate, run it and install the file from there to fix windows not being able to see big drives like that.
