I just plugged an old Athlon XP 1600+ into the Asus A7VI-VM that's in my home server, and apparently Asus hasn't added XP support to the BIOS to this board (I flashed to the latest one on their site which adds Morgan core Duron support). Does anyone know of a beta BIOS, or another BIOS that might work for this board that would add XP support? Right now it's running at 1.067 GHz which is better than the 650 that was in there before, but I want more (don't we all).

Strangely, the BIOS does offer CPU Freq adjustments, but they only go up to 120.

I think the problem may be lack of 266MHz-bus capability, which is inherent to the KM133 chipset (specs for KM133). Your fastest CPU choice would be a 1.3GHz Thunderbird at 200MHz bus. It might take a 1.4GHz x 200MHz but they don't list it.

your board will work with any athlon cpu's including the XP's
it just won't support the 133(266ddr) fsb
if you want it to run the cpu at it's default speed you are gonna have to "unlock" the cpu's factory set clock multiplyer by connecting some bridges on the cpu package
i am running an athlon xp1700+ in my system a7v (kt133) which is just the non-graphics version of your chipset
well have fun
