Asus A7V8X - Need Help w/ SATA

I have 1 Primary Master IDE (HD), and 2 Secondary (Primary & Secondary) IDE (CD-ROM) installed on my A7V8X. I want to install a SATA 160GB HDD. My MB has Promise Raid controller also. I can not get the MB to recognize the HDD w/o wanting to set up an Array! I want to use this as a Secondary Drive for Storage . . .Can my MB do what I want it to do, and if so . . How?

If I remember, you have to tell the SATA BIOS on that board you are using RAID 0 to get it to do anything with the drive. I suspect the boot priority in the system BIOS will determine whether this is the primary drive or the secondary. Make sure that the IDE drive listing appears before Other Boot Device, which may need to be set to SCSI for the SATA controller, if you even have Other Boot Device included in your boot devices. If it is a secondary hard drive, you may want to leave it off the list.

I kinda had the same problem a year ago. From what I remember all I had to do was select the first (or second or thrid - it doesn't matter) boot device to SCSI. I also think I might have updated the RAID drivers (it never hurts) and that was all.
