Asus A7V8X: Mixing PC2100 & PC3200 memory?

I've currently got an Asus A7V8X with two sticks of 256 MB PC2100 (might be 2700) RAM. I'd Like to add a 512 stick of PC3200. According to Asus.com:
Memory 3 x DDR DIMM Sockets
Max. 3 GB unbuffered *PC3200 /PC2700/PC2100/PC1600 non-ECC SDRAM Memory
(Note: PC3200 Max. to 2 banks only; PC2700 Max. to 4 banks only)

Will this work?

Thanks,
-Brett.

No problem there - the common bus will still be at 133 MHz for your PC2100 stick. The population limits for PC3200 and PC2700 are for when you are actually running at that speed - 200 MHz is for one DIMM only, two at 166, three at 133. That's how DDR1 DIMM architecture is specified.

Thus, your running two DIMMs at 133 is well on the safe side.

Great, thanks for the help Peter.

I'll be (hopefully) picking the RAM up today @ lunch from Best Buy. $40, no rebates for Kingston ValueRAM... not the best but I'm no gamer, just need 1GB for some video editing.

-Brett.
