Asus A7V880 SATA help

Okay, I'll try to kep this short. Here's the deal.

I'm trying to install WinXP on a new WD Raptor, using the A7V800's onboard SATA controller. The BIOS recognizes the drive, but Windows cannot find it when Setup looks for hard drives. I know that you usually have to press F6 to install drivers for SATA drives, but the motherboard did not come with any SATA drivers, and the manual makes no mention of SATA drivers at all.

Has anyone else experienced this?

If Asus does mention SATA stuff it's generally way back in Section 5, so maybe double-check there. Search the CD for anything named makedisk.exe, which would be a driver-floppy creation utility. It may be the case that you need to enter the VIA SATA controller's own BIOS and define the drive as an array, too.

I'll DL the manual and see if I see any other insights.
