Is the new ASUS A7V600 expected to be a better performer than the A7N8X Deluxe Rev 2 or will the latter still be king?

I think I read that the BIOs will have some better features than the A7N but will the VIA chip set be better than NVIDIA?

Probably not, motherboard makers don't really care what VIA is doing in the Socket A chipset market now that NVIDIA has priced their chipsets around the $20-25 mark while simultaneously offering better performance. This translates into motherboard maker?s not putting any real effort into KT600 BIOS optimizations, features or support. From what we?ve got here in the labs, the KT600 is just a KT400A with 400MHz FSB support and is barely faster than nForce2 Ultra 400.

I haven?t got a good sense of how the motherboard makers feel about VIA?s Athlon 64 chipsets, but since motherboard makers are definitely sticking with NVIDIA again I?d bet that NVIDIA?s A64 chipset will be faster than VIA?s A64 chipset, which means we?ll have an nForce2 vs. KT400 situation again.

KT600 will probably be about as popular as KT400A, and I think everyone knows how popular that chipset was...

Hmmm interesting is the fact that a single channel chipset is faster than a dual channel one. Evan any idea when retail boards will begin to show up?
