It will be best for performance reasons to use DDR400, and the price difference isn't too big anyway, so that sounds like a good plan if you intend to buy an A7V600 :) Welcome to the Forums :)

thanks..

but reason why im asking is becuse i made a mistake , i bought pc400 kingston but on asus website i know see that only 1 DIMM slot is available for this kingston AVR ram..
now im stuck with only 512MB pc400 ? or would another 512mbram still work..
i might have to ask asus..

That's interesting. I see from Asus's A7V600 page that you're correct about what they say will work. Of course, sometimes stuff will work even when they say it will not.

If it were me, I would bail on the A7V600 altogether and get an nForce2-based motherboard like the A7N8X, or perhaps the Shuttle AN35N Ultra. The AN35N Ultra is only $55, will run up to three DDR400 modules, and should perform a little better than the A7V600 too. The main drawback is that neither the A7N8X nor the AN35N Ultra have Serial ATA support, so if you need SATA, you would want to pick a different board like an Abit NF7-S. When you think about it, it's almost strange that a whole motherboard costs only about half of what a 512MB DDR400 module does

Hope that's some help
