Asus A7V600 7600GS problem

I currently run a XP 1700@2.2ghz, 1GB Kingston RAM, 3x optical drives, 3x IDE HDDS, 1x SATA HDD, 460W Enermax PSU /w 12V@33A, WinXP Pro, Asus A7V600 bios rev. 1006.

I'm trying to upgrade my system from a 9500 pro to a 7600GS. When I pop the 7600 in my system boots with 1 long and 3 short beeps, which I think is the vid card prompt. My pc fails to display anything but the system will boot into windows and bios. I've uninstalled my ATI drivers to no avail. I've tried unplugging all my extra peripherals and the pc still does the same thing. I've also tried changing AGP to 4x and that fails as well. From what I've read it seems that new video cards seem to have problems with the old VIA chipsets.

Anyone have any other ideas or suggestions? And would a X800 or 6800 series card work in my system.
