K, I stuck in my new audigy 2 in pci slot 2, system boots up, i install the drivers and my system freezes up when direct3d becomes used. This was on winxp. I literraly tried every combination I could think of to get this to work, different steps to installing, installing things first then the audigy last, different pci slots. I probably formatted around 30 times. I also tried on win2k and I got the same problems except when doing it a certain way. I would install all windows updates necessary, reboot, install vid card drivers, reboot, install audigy 2 software/drivers, reboot, then goto windows update and update to direct x 8.1. This seemed to fix the problem and I was able to use it just fine. I believe my audigy 2 was in pci slot 3 at the time. I also had a linksys lne100 v4 in pci slot 5. Now I tried these same steps on winxp using directx 9, didnt work. I also tried sticking the audigy 2 in pci slot 5 and puting my ethernet card in pci slots 2 and 3, this froze my system as soon as it booted up after i installed my vid card drivers. I have tried 30.82, 40.72, 41.04 versions of the detanator drivers for my vid card. I was thinking about doing a dual boot of win2k and winxp on separate partitions, however winxp will still freeze up even tho I have the audigy disabled in the device manager. I believe my motherboard is fubar but any help appreciated. I have tried different bios versions ranging from the 1012, 1014 Lumberjack, 1015 and 1016 001 beta.
With my net card in pci slot 5 my comp runs fine. However I just installed the Pinnacle PCTV Deluxe capture device, which is external and uses usb 2.0, and I get the same problems I have above. This is also without the audigy 2 in.
