I have an Athlon XP 2000+ locked and would like to overclock CPU FSB to 140-145 whatever I can get with a locked processor. Does my Dram speed have to be 133 also (synchronous) or can I overclock the CPU FSB in asynchronous mode 133/166? Thanks for any input.

yeah you can overclock even when its running asynchronous

synchronous is memory = fsb... asynchronous is memory = fsb + pci (you probably already knew that :) )
but the point is if you have it set to run the memory at fsb+pci then as you overclock the fsb the memory will overclock at an even higher rate

so if you raise the fsb by 20mhz you will be increasing the memory by 25mhz

Thanks for the info Boonesmi. Hope to get 145 on locked CPU which will give me 178 on memory which Corsair XMS 3000 should handle.

not exactly

what i was trying to say above... if you run your fsb at 145mhz your ram is NOT going to run mem at 178mhz, the reason is the pci bus will not stay at 33mhz so fsb+pci will give you 181mhz for your ram, not 178mhz :)
