I just recently decided that I was going to build my own computer. Didn't figure it could be too difficult. I could add all the hardware no problem but I've never actually started from scratch before! I'm drowning. On to the question though...

I'm trying to figure out how to set the jumpers for the DIP switch. The manual might as well be written in a foreign language because it isnt making any sense to me. I have an AMD Athlon XP 2000+ processor so what should I set these jumpers to?

Only one other question: Where do all these damn cables go!?! I got an Antec True430 PS and have about 3-4 cables that I've never seen before on previous power supplies. I also cannot figure out where to put the cables from the case onto the mobo so that the power button will work.

Please help!!

The easiest way to set up the A7V333 is jumpr free mode, you do it as follows.

Set the SYSCLK dip switches all to the off position ( these dip switches are next to the Ram slots.

The only other Jumper you need to check/change is the Jen jumper, this should be set to jumper free mode as default but check to see if it is, the jumper should be on pins 2-3. This jumper is in the lower right portion o the mobo, if you hold it up so the cpu socket is high.

Hope this helps.

Also there are jumpers to disable the onboard sound is thats what you want, this is enabled by default, its called the Audio_en jumper. It's located under the last PCI slot near the edge of the mobo, to disable the onboard sound place the jumper on pins 2-3 - else leave it enabled on pins 1-2.

I'll try to answer the rest of your question..

The only power cable you need is the standard ATX cable, there is another cable, i think its called a 12V header cable, 4 cables in a square connector - you won't need it. You might have a fan cable, similar to a connector you have for the CPU heatsink, you put that on the POWER_FAN header - next to where you pulled the CPU fan into. The only other cables are standard molex's and floppy cables, plug these into the HD/DVD/Floopy etc..

follow the below direction for the case cables, by this i mean the power led/power on switch etc..

You need to connect the plugs to the mobo in the area known as the PANEL, it's in the lower right of the mobo.

_________Keyboard lock
_____________|__|______Spearker Connector
___Power LED_|___|______|________|
____|______|__|___|______|________|
____|______|__|___|______|________|
____o__o__o__o__o__o__o__o__o__o
____o__o__o__o__o__o__o__o__o__o
___________________|___|_____|___|
__________________Power LED_|___|
____________________________|___|
___________________________Reset Switch.

hope you can see what i'm trying to represent:)

The others i dont use so connect them if you want but i haven't got the connected.

Hope that answers you question.

/edit for correction..

The ide header is on the bottom right corner of the board, just above the Asus panel header. I believe it's the only two pin header in that area.
