I have a PCI IDE controller that has no BIOS, so I have to merge its code into the motherboard BIOS. Well, I ran cbrom and aflash, and now I get "BIOS ROM checksum error" when I try to boot up.

I saved a dump of the original BIOS however, so I would like to restore it. The system allows me to boot from the A: drive.

When I try to run aflash.exe from the boot floppy, it gives me "ERROR! Can't Find System BIOS' Hook."

What can I do, is there any way to salvage this besides buying a new ROM chip? I really hope so.

Bootup messages:

Award BootBlock Bios v1.0
BIOS ROM checksum error
Detecting floppy drive A media...
Starting Caldera DR-DOS...
A:\>aflash failsafe.bin
"ERROR! Can't Find System BIOS' Hook."

When you first boot up you can hit ALT-F2 and it will load the onboard flash writer. If you dont see it you might want to turn quick post off in the boot options if it goes by to fast.
