Asus A7V333 - CD-RW on RAID IDE Connector

I just finished building a system based on the A7V333. My HD is on the primary IDE connector , the DVD on the Secondary IDE connector and the CD-RW on the Promise 1 IDE connector.
The system can not find the CD-RW.

Also, when i start the computer it searches for almost a minute for a raid array, but i don't have one, so how can i made it not to search for one every time?

Anybody knows which is the best and most stable BIOS for the A7V333? Should i get the last one?

I searched the forums and it seems that I can only have a HD on the raid, even if i am using it as a normal IDE.
So whats the best solution now? To move the HD on the raid controller and the CD-RW on the Primary controller? Or to just put the CD-RW as a slave on the same controller as the DVD?

You cannot run non-HDD devices on that Promise controller. You really don't need to use the Promise controller, leave your HDD where it is, and put the CDRW on the Secondary mobo channel. If you feel you have to use the Promise controller, put your HDD on the Primary Promise channel, and your CDRW on the Secondary mobo controller. *I* would go with the first scenario and disable the Promise controller entirely. As far as the boot delay if you decide to use the Promise controller, have you looked in the BIOS for options? If you aren't using it as a RAID device, have you moved the jumper to designate the Promise as a standard additional IDE controller?

Well, I went with your second senario, but i didn't change the jumper, so it regognizes it as a one HD array or something !! It works fine, but i still get the delay when i boot. If i disable the RAID will those 2 Promise connectors work as usual IDE, or if i do that it will not even look for the HD on it?

old thread, but for what it's worth :) yes, disabling via jumper will get rid of that annoying 30 second raid detection if you haven't done it by now. (goin through em all to try to find info for my issue anyway)

My HD is on the Promise 1 IDE conector and CD-RW and DVD on the Primary and Secondary IDE conector. I tried to disable the RAID ,to avoid that 30 sec delay, with the jumper but when i did this the HD was not recognized and my computer couldn't boot.

unless you are really concerned about speed, I would just put your HDD on the primary IDE connector, and your CDRW as master w/ the DVDROM as slave on your secondary IDE. avoid the RAID completely unless you really feel benefit ...no point in using it with just one drive (especially with that loooong delay) ...that's what I'm doing. although, oddly enough my CDRW wasn't getting displayed when I did it...actually my comp wasn't booting -- but I'll figure it out.
for further help, maybe you should check this thread which already answers a lot of questions for the A7V333-raid ... mechBgon may know more since I think he's had experience using raid or scsi controllers... I haven't yet.
