Anyone know if I need to install the PCI controller card to use this hard drive.
Or is the does the motherboard support drives over 137gb. I am currently running XP Service Pack 1

You should be able to connect it to the controller on your motherboard boot into XP and see the full size of the hard drive. To break the "137gig barrier" you need two things, a controller with 48-bit LBA support and an operating system patch. Your onboard controller supports ATA133. The ATA133 spec includes 48-bit LBA support. Your are running service pack one for XP. Service pack 1 includes the 48-bit LBA patch.
