Asus A7V266E Windows 2000 Reboot problem

I have a A7V266E with a Duron 1000 running Windows 2000. When I click on START SHUTDOWN RESTART the computer goes to a black then dark grey screen. This is after all the normal Windows shutdown steps. I have all the VIA patches installed and have run all the windows updates. Any thoughts?
