I'm in the process of tweaking my new ASUS board but have a bit of confusion. I want to run the latest final bios but I find both boards listed on ASUS's site. My board is labelled as A7V266-E/AA (not sure what the AA stands for (AMD Approved?). Can anyone tell me if it's okay to use the 1006e final bios that is available from this site? Thanks in advance for any help everyone.

The AA does stand for AMD Approved, and no It would probably be a bad idea to run the A7V266-E Bios in the board as on most of asus's sites they have directorys set aside for the A7V266-E/AA

I have the AA board as well and was wondering just as you, whether there where and differences in the regular A7V266-E boards. Obviously not. I was having Internet Explorer problems on my system....lock-ups....dll errors, you name it. I downloaded the 1006 final from the Asus site and now my board runs like a dream. Not so much as an error or lock-up in over 2 weeks. The 1005 bios that came with it was horrible for my setup I guess. I e-mailed Asus about the name and haven't received any info back as of yet. The AA designation looks like something added to appease AMD I guess....who knows. But the bios flashed w/o a hitch and is running 100% fine ever since.

Hope this helps,

Thanks for the input. Indeed BIOS 1006e (final) does work wonders on the AA labelled boards. I have had it installed now for a week and the system runs very well. I do appreciate the note of caution as ASUS does indeed have a specific link for the AA board's bios and it only contains the 1005e bios. A number of people on the AMDMB.COM forum have done this bios upgrade and have reported great success. I've stress tested the system numerous times over this past week and it's performing like it should. Thanks again.
