My Asus A7V266-E (Award BIOS, v1006e) sometimes makes PC speaker beeps when I am playing games. Sometimes it's just one, sometimes two, once it was five times. I usually ignore it and keep playing. Sometimes it will beep again during my gameplay, sometimes it doesn't. Nothing catastrophic has ever happened, but it's starting to worry me.
I thought mobos only beep during POST...anyway, it's been suggested that the beeping means my CPU is overheating. While this theory makes sense (my idle CPU temp is 50C) in some ways, it doesn't in others. For example, currently my C.O.P. is set to Shutdown on overheat, so I'm not sure if that's the issue. In addition, there was a time when my CPU fan failed to spin up, and I heard no beeps - only the motherboard's COP shutting down my system when it overheated to roughly 80-90C. Also, it I exit out of a game immediately after a beep and go check Sandra, it says the CPU is running at maybe 65C - a bit high, but doesn't seem to be any higher than other times I was playing games, and definitely not a cause for alarm (literally).
Anyone else has had beeps during normal PC activity?
