There are two versions of the A7V266-E: one where the capacitor is located in such a way big heatsinks such as the pal8045 will fit and the other one that will interefer with the big heatsink without modifying the heatsink. I have the latter board. I had to use a dremel so that the Pal8045 will fit. My board has been running smoothly for over a mos. without any problems.

So when I'm buying the mobo, what do I ask for? Is there a board revision to ask for?

What is the latest/best board revision anyway?

Do a search at www.amdmb.com Asus forum. I believe you have to look at the capacitor's numbers if you cant see the board physically when buying it.
