Just curious if an ASUS A7V133 will accept a Tbird 1.4. In the manual it says up to 1.33, but I was given a 1.4 and would like to use it in the A7V133.

TIA

any board revision (the most common is 1.04) and bios revision 1005 or newer gives support for all the athlon up to 1.4ghz (that includes both 100mhz and 133mhz parts) and all durons up to 950mhz

if you have board revision 1.05 and bios revision 1007 or newer then you have support for the whole line of durons (both the old spitfires up to 950mhz and the new morgans up to current) and also with revision 1.05 and bios 1007 you have support for the athlonXP (probably not including barton, but im not sure)

athlonXP comes in several different chip revisions

listed in order:
palomino (this was the first athlonXP)
t-bred A
t-bred B
barton

for sure yours will worth with an xp2000+ palomino :)
probably (but im not 100% sure) it will worth with an xp2000+ tbred A or B
and it probably wont work with the newest revision the barton

you may already be familiar with the different cores of the athlonXP but just incase not below is a little info (by the way the info is by memory so it probably isnt 100% accurate)

1. athlonxp (palomino) comes in xp1500+ thru xp2200+ (these have not been made for awhile so it will be hard to find them in stores, but easy to find them forsale in the fs/ft forum

2. athlonxp (tbred A) not sure what speeds, this revision wasnt produced very long.. but i believe the very first xp2400+ chips were based on this core and probably a scattering of stuff between 1700+ up to the 2400+

3. athlonxp (tbred B) comes in xp1700+ to xp2700+ most anything bought today will be based on this core

4. athlonxp (barton) comes in xp2500+ to xp3200+ (this core is alot different the the other 3, and is much less likely to work on older boards)
