if i connect 2 of my hd in first primary master and slave, 2 of my cd rom in
first secondary master and slave, it works fine but zip drive will be left out. YEs there are 2nd primary and 2nd secondary socket. and when i use those it will detect drive when i boot up , but some how it won't show up in my computer after i start windows. the second primary and secondary i think is something relate to raid (some new feature , but i have no idea what hell it is . ) please help thanx

It sounds like you don't have your Promise ATA100 drivers installed. If you haven't messed with the jumpers on the motherboard, it will be defaulted to use the ATA100 feature, meaning you can hook your Zip drive up to your Promise controller.

The drivers will be located on your CDROM that came with the motherboard.

Good luck!

im not sure i understand your problem (maybe im reading your post incorrectly)

but.... your board has a primary and a secondary ide that are part of the via southbridge
it also has a primary and secondary that are part of the promise controller.

if you want to use the promise controller you have to make sure its not set for raid, and you have to make sure the drivers are installed for it, and that its turned on in the bios, also dont use anything but hard drives on the promise controller. its not meant for cdroms/zip drives/etc

as for the 2 via channels you can use anything, hard drives/zip/cdrom/etc/etc
