Asus A7V133 Doesn't Recognize Athlon XP 2000+

Howdy,
Tried to upgrade my system from a 1.133 Ghz Thunderbird to a XP 2000+ (1.67 Ghz). Turn on the power, the fans and CD ROMs and HDD and motherboard all light up, but no video output and the hard drive doesn't make its boot loading spin noise, which tells me it's not booting. Note that I'm running BIOS 1008a, which is supposed to support the Athlon XP and the 12.5 multiplier of the A7V133 means it can handle the XP 2000+ (1.67 = 12.5 X 133). Additionally, the power button and reset button both work, and CD ROMs open and close buttons respond properly while in this incapacitated state.

When I switched back to the 1.133 Ghz Thunderbird, everything worked, which indicates that all the hardware is fine. Upon inspecting the XP2000+ it too looks healthy, no stray thermal paste, no burn marks, no cracked CPU die.

Any ideas why the motherboard will not recognize the XP 2000+ CPU?

Thanks,
PCM

Yo,
Been reading the Internet, apparently the CMOS needs to be cleared when doing a CPU switch.

Yeah, it's already in Jumper Free mode.

I had heard somewhere that the 1.04 version does not support the XP cpu`s but my A7V133 (version 1.04) has no problem... 🙂 But when I tried to update to bios 1007 it would not boot...? (put a 1.4 Tbird back in and no problem so I backed down to 1005 and it runs the XP perfect)...?

What version of the A7V133 do you have...?
