Asus A7V133 and MS-Dos Compatibility in WinME

I have two ibm 45gig 75gxp's and a western digital 18gig. i have sucessfuly installed winME and all the via, promise, and vid card, sound drives. my only prolem is that windows is in ms-dos compatibility mode. im not real familiar with ms-dos compatiblity mode but i seems to slow the drives down as they benchmark slower than a ata66 drive. the two hardrives are on the same channel, master+slave, and in a raid array. the second hard drive is alone on the second channel. any help getting thing out of ms-dos real mode would be great. thanks
