I've still got one of the original boards, running a duron 800.

What's the fastest I chip I can put on this board without overclocking the FSB from it's native 100MHz?

its a great board by the way

i ahve the same one

but u can go up to a 1.4ghz 200fsb

i
m currently using a 1.3ghz 200fsb

If the multiplier only goes up to 12.5x and you can't find any BIOS updates, I think you have answered your question. Of course, you can always do some FSB overclocking and raise the multiplier to 12.5x. Then you don't have to worry about the maximum the BIOS allows it to accept. =)

That's a pretty good way to go. Just make sure with ASUS that this chip is compatible with this board. It may not be. The Durons at 1GHz and above use the XP core (Essentially). Try AMD's website. There are massive listings for compatibilty there.

Do they? Interesting... makes the upgrade all te more worthwhile.

Do you think one of those zalman flower coolers will be enough, I like to have a quiet system.

I think it would be enough, but check AMD's recommended list. I usually like to suggest coolers listed there. Of course, my cooler isn't on there... Anyway, you could also always go to 80mm to 60mm adapter route. This would give you a decent fan that is also quiet.

Actually I take that back, it seems to be a true 12x100.

Why WOULDN'T this work with an A7V? Surely the differences to the core are just in the core so make no difference to the board..?
