Asus A7V PC133, setting processor speed, HELP!

Had a T-bird 850 on mb, upgraded other computer so moved 1ghz t-bird to this mb (which per manual supports up to 1ghz CPU). On startup is recognizing as 750 T-bird. Went into BIOS to adjust CPU, but whatever im doing isnt working. Anyone familiar with this MB can tell me just what to do?

Thanks.

If you have an early version of that mobo it may need a bios update to recognize faster processors.

It's likely that the new CPU is a 7.5*133=1Ghz CPU and you're running it at 7.5*100=750Mhz
To run it at 1Ghz, you'll have to change the FSB to 133 (it the MB supports it) or unlock the CPU and change the multiplier to 10.

Well, it is version 1.02, but the manual that came with the MB says it will support 1ghz. I'll have to check BIOS version and compare with what ASUS has available I suppose. A little hesitant to flash the BIOS unless I really need to, the old "if it aint broke dont mess with it" school. 😀

Spooky, I went into the Jumperless BIOS settings and I noted that when I tried to raise CPU frequency to 133, the DRAM frequency is apparently linked. I cant seem to raise just CPU. My SDRAM on this MB is PC 100, is this a problem?

Thanks

Enquiring minds need to know....
If in fact it is a Socket A processor, just connect the L1 bridges using a regular number 2 pencil. However, do not let any of the lines cross each other. BY connecting all of the L1 bridges, you have multiplier unlocked the chip and will need to manually set the new multiplier in teh Bios if your motherboard allows multiplier adjustments.

If you have the original Asus A7V, then it wont do a 133mhz FSB, or XP Processors.
If you have the Asus A7V133, then it should do a 133mhz FSB, and support XP processors with a new BIOS.
