ASUS A7V, PC100 versus PC133?

I've just bought the ASUS A7V, and I only have PC100 RAM right now.

Would it be a great performance-boost if I bought PC133 instead?

My new CPU will be a 1 GHz T-bird.

i see a couple hundred pointdifference in 3dmark when i change settings between 100 mhz and 133 mhz. I got lucky on some generic stuff and it runs at 2-3-2

That is a good question. I will post some Sisoft benchmarks in a couple hours using 100 FSB and 133 FSB. The bigger question may be if you have CAS 3 vs CAS 2 RAM. There is a significant difference in that.

Ok, using Sisoft Sandra 2001
Generic PC133 CAS 3 RAM @ 100 Mhz FSB

CPU/Memory Bandwidth 309 MB\s
FPU/Memory Bandwidth 331 MB\s

Same RAM @ 133 Mhz FSB

CPU/Memory Bandwidth 347 MB\s
FPU/Memory Bandwidth 386 MB\s

So, simply going from 100 to 133 FSB gives me 12-16% increase in memory bandwidth. Maybe I will throw my Mushkin 128 MB CAS 2 stick in there and see the differences.

Hope that helps.

Get some pc133 that will run at cas2 ( there is plenty for sale on this forum, cheap) and your FPU/Memory bandwidth will be in the mid 500's.
