Asus A7V-E Software CPU Cooling?

I just purchased an Asus A7V-E motherboard and have a T-Bird 1.2Ghz on it. I installed the Asus probe software no it and in the software there is an option for software cooling. What does this do? How does it work? Does it slow down the processor at all? I assume it runs the processor at a lower frequency, so it generates less heat, but am not sure. How much does it reduce the heat?

Thanks,

Chris

i'm curious too ...
i've set my CPU temp treshold to 64 and reinstall the retail HSF just too see how the "CPU cooling" works.
i checked the "Always" and "When CPU Overheated" check boxes
edit:forgot check boxes

after reinstalling the retail HSF i could reach over 67 C... (and logically thinking the soft CPU cooling should be starting to "kick in" but i didn't notice any temp drop when it is activated...)

so i didn't enable it anymore...
