I have an Asus A7V & a Duron 700.

The trouble is that I cannot get it to POST @ default speed.

When I plug in the power into the PS the comp starts, then stops in a few secs.

When I remove the CPU it starts but, of course nothing happens, and it doesn't stop anymore.

Bad CPU or bad Mobo?

& please don't serve me with: double check the jumpers or remove everything & add it all back inside, one step @ a time...

Thanks.

OMG!!!! I had the same exact problem man. All you have to do is hit the power button. The way the gay ass A7V works is that it shuts down if you just hit the power switch but if you hit the power switch, wait for it to shut down and then boot up again, it'll work. Make sure to connect the power cord thingy from the tower to the mobo or it won't do anything of course =P

Just u won't think I'm stupid. I used a screwdriver to short the power pins on the mobo.

Finally it was a bad PS (one of the wires was not getting into the connector properly)

My A7V does the same thing. Start up for a second then stop when it is plugged in. Freaked me out the first time.

That's a normal system test. Press the power button. One way I found to get around that is set the power up control to a given time everyday in bios, mines at 5:30am. When power is turned on then it will just boot right up.

I have built 4 systems using the A7V Asus board and for the most part everything went according to norm but the last one did a few strange things that the others did not.... like..... when I start up it gives me a choice of what to use to boot up:

1.) Floppy
2.) CDrom
3.) SCSI

I pick or highlight 3 and hit enter whereas my other builds never asked for this and all the bios settings are the same as I set them on the other systems. Also the memory count keeps turning over and over and at the bottom of the screen it says hit "Esc" to set/end memory count,"Del" to enter setup? This must be something new in this version of the bios because the other systems did not perform these functions?
