I have an ASUS A7V w/ an Athlon 1ghz CPU and ASUS's Probe program reports 50c - 52c temperatures. Is this too hot? And if so, how do I fix it?

PS - I too am having all kinds of lock up issues.

they can run upto 60 by spec i think, but for the best results keep it in the 40's, Ur lockups are purly temp related. I suggest u invest in a better heatsink as well as intake and extake fans.

i agree, your lockups are probably temp. related...that's quite hot, although not out of spec.

invest in a better heatsink/fan combo + thermal paste (or just thermal paste if your heatsink/fan combo is good but u lack thermal paste), and at least 1 exhaust case fan 80mm or larger...intake isn't so crucial...the exhaust should be placed relatively directly behind the cpu at the back of the case....

My BIOS is 1004D and the MB is revision 1.02.

I just bouaght a new Cool Max Tornado heatsink today and the Temp is still high.

Also I flashed the BIOS today to 1005B and everything worked except my DirecPC USB Adapter, so I went back to my original BIOS. Does anyone have any thoughts on why that happened?

dont worry about it, i thinki the reading is wrong, i have the exact same board and cpu with an alpha pal6035 with a delta fan and i get temps up to 53c under full load, and thats with a modded case with a bunch of extra case fans.....before i turned on the extra fans, my pc ran at 64c under load and never locked up.

You're not at temps taht cause problems, which leads me to believe that your socket-thermsitor readings are off. Are you using thermal grease on your heatsink?
