I bought this board last summer with the aspirations of useing it with an 800 MHZ Athlon Thunderbird running the FSB at 200 MHZ as stated on their site and in such reviews. This would be shearly beautiful ^_^ So I bought the board and the CPU but of course the CPU was multiplier locked, and haveing read all the guides on Tomshardware and here on OCing and working with the board and the CPU I did not have the courage to draw the little lines to unlock the multiplier and have some fun with the board.

My plan was to majorly underdo the mulitplyer so that I could run the FSB at 150 or more MHZ. I finally have enough courage to do this minor, yet rather scary for those of us with a shaky hand, operation and see what I can do.

I was wondering if what is stated about useing a normal mechanical pencil to draw lines between the L1 bridges actually works, and if it may fail based on what type of pencil lead is being used. Is there a better and safer way that I could do this?

Is it truely possible to run the FSB at 133+ MHZ useing this strategy?

If the core will stand 133fsb then yes - you're in business. Multiplier has nothing to do with fsb overclocking only changing the core speed. Try it with a pencil so if you screw it up the first, or second time (most of us did I'll bet) you can just erase it and start over. 0.05mm HB sharpened on one side on a piece of paper should do the trick. Good luck and welcome to a HELL from which there is no going back - Bwahahahahahahah :D

Somehow I missed the point on using a "mechanical" pencil to do this and used a REALLY sharp #2(no kiddin') pencil on my Duron 700. Went straight up to 926 no probs..Will use conductive pen next time though. Anyway, go ahead and unlock that multiplier, Get some free-speed and just remember to do a little at a time though.

hate to tell you but if you plan to run the fsb at 150mhz your going to be disapointed, the a7v is a kt133 motherboard and the kt133 rarely is able to get over 110mhz (even though the board has setting for higher)

if you want a fsb of 150 you will need at least a kt133a board or any of the new ddr boards
