Asus A7V and SB Live woes

Has anyone had problem with the detection of an SB Live on an Ausus A7V? I installed the board w/o incident, loaded Win ME (new install), the OS detected everything...BUT the SB Live. I also tried the SBLive in different PCI slots. Any ideas? Here's the setup-

A7V + 700mhz CPU
128MB PC133 RAM
20GB MAXTOR
Viper 770 Ultra
2940 SCSI Controller
SB LIVE
Intel 10/100 NIC
SCSI CDR Drive

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction, but wouldn't windows recognize the SB Live and show it as conflicting with another device?
Windows should still show that it is at least present...conflicting or not shouldn't it?

ack...if you find a solution to this let me know. Ive been fighting this for the last two weeks and I'm about to throw the whole rig out the window. I actually got the sblive to get recognized once but no sound came out. I changed something and from then on have gotten nothing but poor results 🙁

Risman my setup is a lot like yours...
a7v 750 tbird
128 pc100
20gb maxtor
8gb seagate
sb live
netgear 10/100
clabs dxr3 (no problems detecting this!)

Hey,
I feel your pain. I was there for 1 1/2 months. So were many other people.

ASUS A7V Troubleshooting Board

I finally ditch the SBLive and got a Yamaha like someone suggested and I got scratchy sound coming out of it. However, my system hasn't crash even once.

Email me personally after you have fixed your system.
Good Luck!!!!!!

Here is were I stand: I went home last night, followed dopha's advice, changed the bios to legacy support for the specified PCI slot that the SBLive resided in, fired up the machine and it worked! I installed the drivers, shut down and restarted, and then POOF it was gone again. I was messing with it this morning and was just getting more p'd off, so I am going to give it another shot tonight. If I can't get it to work I am going to throw in another sound card and be done with it. Other than the sblive, everything else seems to be working as I had hoped. I have an unlocked Duron and I am going to rev it up after the sblive is squared away.

Well, I solved my SB Live problem. Out of sheer frustration I read all of the forums about SB Live and A7V...I'm not even sure where I read it, but someone suggested that I make sure that the card is secure in the PCI slot...I thought well that's stupid, it is secure. I couldn't even see the contact points so I said what the hell. I pushed the card into the PCI slot almost to point break and I'll be damned...It worked! Only time will tell though...Give it a shot!

Good Luck!

Thanks for all suggestions!
