Just plugged my Duron 1G in (A7V v 1.02 B1009)and all the tests, Sisoft 2001TE, 3Dmark 2000, WCPUID show SSE mode.
I thought you had to do a clean install. How come? Is this just the case with a Duron? When booting the first time it choked once and than rebooted OK. It only shows Duron 1000Mhz. I also had the Core Voltage at 1.4 Volts but with the Duron 1G it shows 1.6V. Temp was 40C with Coolermaster fan.
Anyone has similar experiences?

AMD's official statement is that it is required. Unofficially, it's recommended but not an absolute requirement.
Most applications should perfectly recognize and utilize the SSE capabilities without a reinstall, there may be a small handful of apps that might need a reinstall on order to use the SSE however... but those should be few and far inbetween.
AMD's recommendation for a reinstall is more of a "cautionary" meaure then something that absolutely needs to be done to utilize SSE.
