I bought this board and put it in a 300w case. It has a 600mhz duron which I intended to overclock but as of yet is untouched. I was able to get it running and install winme.

1) On boot up the computer hangs for about 1min as it tries to detect ata 100 devices which i dont have. Can this be bypassed?

2) Once the computer is running everything seems good for anywhere from 3-10min then it will just shut down. I have heard this could be due to overheating. I am currently using the just the stock fan and heatsink. Has anyone had this problem and know how to fix it?

One time when it shutdown out of about 20 it booted into the bios and said that basicly the boot failed on the previous attempt because my processor speed was set incorrectly.

What BIOS are you using? I am currently using the 1005a BIOS, but plan to upgrade to the 1005b. 1005a is ROCK SOLID for me. Also, be sure you have the Virus Warning feature in the BIOS enabled. Hope this helps.

Ill have to check the version when I get home from work. Its what shipped with it, I have not done an upgrade. What is so significant about virus warning?

I too had this problem. I just upgraded to 1005a several weeks ago. Tbird 700@800 no problems. I brought the speed to stock settings including the jumper free mode jumper on the mother board. Proceeded to install my 98,2000,and linux triple boot. I had many of the lockups on reboot and from cold start.

I finally set the jumper to manual and set switches for 700 and haven't had that problem since. I haven't tried taking back to 800 yet I don't know if linux will take it. 2000 would only go to 800, 98 would take more I only tried 850 though.

did you leave the stock thermal pad on the heatsink, or did you scrape it off and apply thermal grease. I definately recommend the latter. Also in the bios there is an ata bios first boot option, if you disable , may speed up booting.
