Asus A7V and 1.3 temps

I just upgraded to a 1.3ghz Athlon and have a Thermoengine V60-4210 that's rated up to 1.5 ghz. My idle temps are between 55-60 C with up to 65 under load though I've yet to have a lock-up. I am running on an Asus A7v mobo which doesn't officially support this processor speed since the maximum mulitplier setting is 12.5x. The fix for this was offered in bios version 1007 (I think, this is the BIOS I am using though) which automatically overclocks the FSB to 105mhz when you set the multiplier to 12.5x. SO, I'm assuming that the board and processor would be running a little hotter than normal because of the higher FSB speed, but doesn't this still seem a little high? I just installed this processor a few hours ago and have already reinstalling the heatsink/fan to make sure all was well. Case cooling is acceptable right now as I have plenty of fans blowing air through it. I have the CPU voltage set to 1.65 in my BIOS however it is being reported be SiSoft Sandra as being 1.73? Is this odd? Why is this thing so hot!?

EDIT> What exactly is the default voltage setting? If I set it in my BIOS to auto, Sandra reports it as being 1.83!

I'll try to help out from what I know. I do know that the A7V and the A7V133 have a problem with reading the right temp in windows. Most have found that taking about 10C off of what your reading will be more accurate, even then that might be still higher then what it is. The temp probe is under the cpu in the small space in the center of the socket, well the air in that space gets heated up and the probe reads that. I'll give you an example using my temps. I have the A7V133, the probe under the cpu says 43C but the probe that I have mounted next to the core says 36C and this is from a Tbird 1.4@1.6 using 1.85 volts.

Also, are you using something like Artic Silver II between the cpu and the heatsink or are you using the pad that came on the heatsink? If your using a pad, going to Artic Silver will help a lot.

I think the default voltage for the 1.3 is 1.75 volts, it might be 1.80. Something else about at least the A7V, is the cpu voltage seems to go up and down a little. Yours is reading 1.83 but at some other time it might be 1.79.

I hope some of this is helpful and if any of it is wrong, I hope someone comes along to correct me.

I am using the pad and I know this is not the best solution, but it's all I've got until I can get a hold of some Artic Silver. Does anyone know of any stores that carry this stuff? I live in San Antonio, Texas if anyone is around this area. I know where I can order some, but I hate waiting for little stuff like this.

I moved some case fans to blow over the processor and the temps have lowered a few degrees with 55-56 at idle and 60-61 under load. This is a little better and I suppose if the mobo is reporting temps 10 degrees above what it actually is then this really isn't too bad. Thanks.
