Just got my new mb in today and was wondering about something while I am waiting for the rest of the parts to come in...

I notice 2 ATA100 channels and 2 ATA66 channels. Does this mean I can use 8 IDE devices? How about using 4 with 1 device as master on each channel? I would assume that would speed things up just a little.

Thanks,
Kevin

Yes, You have 8 ide channels, so you can make each one a master on each channel, remember if you have ata100 to put in on the correct channel, also I would put cd-roms, etc on the ata66 and harddrives no matter what on the ata100.

I agree,

Except that I would put the FAST HDs on the ATA100 channel, and anything slow (even HDs where speed is NOT foremost) on the slower ATA66 channel!

My 2 cents,
