I am trying to update bios on this mobo and when i run asus update utility it says That the Model of BIOS image doesnt match the BIOS ROM's one. and does not let me flash it...
What exactly is the problem with it?

A.Z.

I'll tell you what. Download the latest BIOS manually. Then search your Asus CDROM for "aflash.exe". Copy that and the BIOS file to a blank floppy. Then boot into DOS, run AFLASH.EXE. Make a backup of your BIOS that you use, then flash your current one. It should work then. NEVER use that update utility. It's junk. I know of one instance where a guy lost his motherboard because Windows/Asus Update froze! Do it in DOS always. I can't stress that enough. Anything as serious as a BIOS flash should be done in the most stable environment....which isn't Windows, in case you were wondering. 🙂 Good luck!

avzay66, see my picture below, is this what u encounted?

picture here

It showed that our A7v133 came with a KT133 chip and not KT133A.

I think we need some expert to help us.

avzay66, when u power up your PC, look at the boot screen(the part where it scan your HDD). At the bottom of the screen, tell me what u see.

Did u see KT133 or KT133A??

Thanks, we are in the same boat 🙁

Other than the Flash BIOS problem how do you guys like this board? I'm building a system for a friend right now and I'm looking for a stable, not to expensive board. I was going to get an Iwill KK266, but in light of Iwill's recent problems I have decided to possibly go with the ASUS A7V-133.

Socket A boards I have experience with are the DFI AK74EC, and the FIC AZ11E. I don't need a board with all the bells and whistles, just ATA 100 support on a stable platform, so how do you guys rate the ASUS A7V-133? Please email me at the address below. Thanks...Eric

H E L L O! Did you guys read my first post or what? Do the flashing in DOS, not Windows. Flashing the BIOS is very dangerous, so do it in DOS! Do what my first post said to do!

exactly we have the same errors. But anyway I go ahead and flash with 1004.awd. Please use the aflash from asus website and make a backup of your bios 1st. If something goes wrong, do NOT quit, just continue flashing it back with the old bios.

When u do a backup, please remember the file name, for example you can name it "1003.awd".

Hope this help.

You can ICQ(26535714) me if you still worry, we are in the same boat remember?
