Does the EPOX 8RDA+ Motherboard have built in Serial ATA And Firewire Ports?

I was about to order the EPOX 8RDA+ Motherboard from Newegg instead of the ASUS A7N8X Motherboard, since I have used the EPOX Motherboards for the last two years now.

Do I have to wait for the EPOX 8RDA2+ Motherboard which will be out in a few weeks to get the Serial ATA and the Firewire Ports, or does the EPOX 8RDA+ Motherboard have at least the Firewire Ports?

Is the ASUS A7N8X Motherboard still a better buy and have more features then the EPOX 8RDA2+ Motherboard will have at this time?

The 8RDA+ has 2 firewire ports and no SATA

I have no idea what the 8RDA2+ will bring to the table

If you want the board to have an S/PDIF out, get the Asus or factor in the $35 to buy an S/PDIF outlet plate from EPoX. Also, the 8RDA+ is out-of-stock at ye olde newegg, but you can get one for $108 shipped FedEx Saver from here.

The Epox 8RDA2+ will be a feature rich version of the Epox 8RDA+. I hope we will have a PCI/AGP Lock this time

The 8rda+ DOES have AGP lock right in the bios. As for PCI lock... There is no hard evidence one way or the other. :)

This is true..but there are two things to consider. The $35 for the SPDIF card includes a fiber optic TOSLINK cable, which is usually at least $20 @ any store. Also, I personally would prefer optical digital output over the coax of the Asus, but that's just me. :)

the reseller ratings for twco's look good. how anyone had to rma a product with them? the side says hassle frre rma's but it also sounds like they will still charge you a $15 fee.

The EP-SPD650 is priced at £10 on the Epox UK website which comes to about $16 not sure if this includes the Fibre Optic TOSLINK Cable though.

The cable they include is usually a very thin cable thats about the thickness of a string. There is no rubber insulation or covering and is definitely not worth even $5. You can buy higher quality cables for $10-15 over at Target or RadioShack.

I'd like to see the cable first...sounds like you are assuming it is a cheap one without actually seeing it. Never the less, it's nice to not have to go out and buy a cable seperately.
