I have Asus A7N8X-LA mobo that I purchased online. I am in desparate need of the pinouts for the USB and firewire connections. Does anyone have them or drivers for that matter?

Thanks:confused

Confused? Well, ya, let's start with the m/b model. What version of the A7N8X was that again? I've seen "DX" for deluxe, no qualifier, VM and X. Don't see an "LA" on the ASUS website. Anyway, the mobo manual should clearly indicate where the connectors are for the 'extra' USB ports (those in addition to the back panel) and the Firewire are on the m/b. The ASUS site should also have all the drivers required. www.asus.com

Thanks for the reply - This is apparently a mobo from a HP Pavilion. Asus made them exclusively for HP it is very close to the VM except it has on board nVidia video and firewire. You are correct there is nothing on the Asus website about this board - Asus doesn't support OEM boards only retail ones. :(

I was just trying to find out if anyone had some info on the pinouts for the firewire and IEEE connectors on the board. There are not 2 rows of pins just one LONG one for each??

So if anyone has any type of documentation for this board - Please let me know.....

Thanks again!

You might want to contact HP and see if they will give you the info. The problem you will run into is HP thinks their customers are to stupid to make use of any technical info therefor they don't provide any. However, you might get lucky and get someone on the phone who is willing to help. Good luck.

My mistake then. Unfortunately you are probably completely dependant on HP for documentation / drivers etc. I doubt you'll see anything on the ASUS website for custom built stuff like that.
