I'm having difficulties flashing my Asus A7N8X M/B with the latest bios Downloaded from Asus. I've sent a message to tech support but so far have ha no response.

I have flashed bios about 3-4 times before on my old Asus A7M.

I'm running Windows XP, Aflash won't run under a dos box, so I've tried using two differnent boot disks (Win98SE and WinXP Boot disk) to boot to dos and flash it that way. When having booted to B/Disk Dos, I try to run Aflash ( I have tried 2 differnt versions a 63K new version and a 101K old version) and I get the error Can't find Bios Hook. Aflash doesn't even load, just gives me that error message. I have turned off all virus detection, bios protection options in Bios b4hand.

PLan B, fails.

When my computer boots uo at the same time as the message appears 'Press Del to enter Bios' Mine shoes an option 'Press Alt-F2 to Flash Bios' I tried that, It decompressed a flash utility from the bios memory and after loading up the flash promptly froze, I don't think reset even worked and I had to turn the comp off at the wall socket. I couldn' t type in anything or give the path of the *.bin file that was the update.

I tried looking it up on the net and a handful of other people have had similar problems but noone has worked out a fix to it yet. It also only seems to happen to Asus M/B's.
Which I did mention in my email to Tech Support along with the ammount of Asus products I have bought (4 M'B's Cd-Writers + Roms and 3 graphics cards.)

IF somoone could halp me I would greatly appreciate it as I'm stumped.

P.S. I also tried accesing it from the windows XP CD recovery console and I couln;t figure out how to execute programs. etc.. I went accross to c: and typed aflash which I was the flash program I also tried aflash followed by the *.bin file bios update file but recovery console just said it didn't recognise the command. Is there a way to run files from there or is it not like DOS at all.
