I am going order Asus A8n8X DX. You guys know if it is 2.0 or not?

Also few questions regarding the setup.
CORSAIR MEMORY XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series (Twin Pack) 512MB(2 x 256MB) 2x(32MX64) - If Dual Channeling... but if i want to save some money, should i just go with single pack 512 stick instead of Twin pack?

I am ordering
CHIEFTEC Server Chasis (Aluminum Workstation Tower with Plastic Front Cover) Blue w/acrylic window - 450Watt Foxconn Power Supply **Now with 2 x Front USB2.0 and 1 x Firewire IEEE1394 ports**

It comes with Foxconn.. I personally think that ANTEC cases are a rip off... i mean yes you get a nice PS.. but the case is similar to Chieftec, plus it gives you a window mod.. heheh anyways.. have you guys tried this MOBO with Barton 2500+ to OC?

Much input is helpful. Thank you guys.

1) It's a 99% chance that it is a rev 2.0
2) Sure, sometimes DCDDR does absolutely nothing (emphasis on "sometimes")

That's scary thought... it does nothing sometimes eh?? darn.. why should i spend the extra then.... for OCing to near 400mhz on those rams?? Guys.. what should i do??? just get a single stick 512 rather then 2 sticks of 256 for DCDDR? Could i still oc that single stick??

SOrry for the noob question... this nforce era is giving me a headache....

You can OC the single stick, in fact I'd say get the single so you have more slots open for extra memory down the road, seeing as dual channel doesn't help Athlons all that much, unless you use integrated graphics.

If you want to save money, wait until Kingston 512mb valueram is on sale at Best Buy or Circuit City and look for the Winbond BH-6 chips. I am running two of them in a dual channel setup (same board as you are getting) at 190mhz 222 and probably will do even higher than that.....:)

Whatever you do... don't buy a "twin pack" ... matched pairs is as big a marketing ploy as ATA133... has the potential to be faster, but 95% of the time, you see absolutely no difference at all.

I am going to order (1) stick of XMS 512 mem 3200c instead of two. I guess i can try to oc with that right? or DUALchanneling is the only way to OC to 400 MHZ

Just confused about the C2, C2PT, LL, LLPT suffix at the end... so lost :frown:

- ASUS A7N8X DX
- Barton 2500+ OEM or Retail (depends on HS issues)
- Need HS.. need suggestions please.. need best price/performance or go with Reatail HS
- memory (your opinion my my final decision 256 or 512 .. just want a descent system.. not blazing hot OC crazy hard-core FPS gaming freak here.. hehe)
- Cheiftec case with window w/ 450W Foxconn(Austin) PS

all from Newegg.. unless you guys think im wierd...
Other wise, i think my setup is ok... hopefully i get a version 2.0 on my ASUS A7N8X DX from newegg. thanks guys... now time to slowly unwrap my presents when it gets here!!

PC3200 will run at 400 Mhz. Dual channel doesn't offer much benefit with an AMD system. You want at least 512 MB for games, especially if you're using Windows XP... and if you get a couple 256 MB sticks, that leaves less room to upgrade in the future. So I'd get get a single 512 for now, PC3200... Cas 2 if you can afford the $20-30 premium.
