Asus A7N8X Deluxe wont POST

ok so i bought two of these boards for $15. thought it was an ok deal till i saw the price for the motherboards. but this steal has turned out to be a problem. one MB will post running a Athlon XP 1600+ "green" (core?) CPU. its using a VS256MB400 as its memory. my question is one board wont post when it has a Athlon XP 1800+ yellow (core?) CPU.

I have two Athlon XP 1800+ neither will post on this motherbaord.the only thing ive noticed that that motherboards might be a differrent REV #. the one that wont post is a REV 1.04. what could be the problem?
 
If you paid $15 for them, I'd say someone probably sold you some problem boards. That's way cheap for those and would raise a red flag for me.
 
You may need to update your BIOS. The latest from the ASUS BIOS Downloads site is
1009. Make sure you use the Bios for your specific revision (ie) 1.04 etc. If you use the Bios for Rev 2.0 you'll screw the BIOS. The latest BIOS will allow you to use all the Athlon XP family plus Semperons.
