I'm deciding on whether i should get an Epox 8RDA+ ($84) or an Asus A7N8X Deluxe ($130) and use those $50 to buy a better video card or just save that $ for some food or somethin..haha. Input anyone?

Depends on how many of Deluxes features you need. I still went with Asus (though i only need 60% of boards features), cuz i like asus, and am happy that i've put my $$$ into Asus yet again..

Well, at this point I'd say I wouldn't endorse either of those choices. If I was going to go and buy a brand new nforce2 board right now I'd buy the Abit NF7-S Rev. 2.0. That is unless I could find a bonafide Epox 8RDA+ Rev. 2.0 for sale in a store that sells to the USA.

$85 for the 8rda+ is unbeatable. i love my Nf7-s but if i was strapped for cash i would definately go with the epox board

I bit Asus :) Though i use none of the features its nice to have them...actually for the first time ever I used a USB port - I wanted to play games and didn't want to go with the hassle of a paralell port in the back so I bought a USB Gamepadpro...very satisfied with plug in play :)

Besides, its nice when my friend who just got an irda+ i built him actually has a legitamate need rothe S/P DIF out and I, who have no need for onboard one, just sit saying "you could've..."

but If I would pick both since I've worked with both its a tough decision. If you might have a need for any of the features on the Asus...do that. But if you are going to have little need for "deluxe" then go 8rda+

What i liked is that asus also has the firewire, which is awesome. Studio 7 + firewire = kick-ass. As for abit: well, i see little need of having an extra onboard fan. And i dislike the position of abits power connector.

look into the 8rda3+ instead of the a7n8x deluxe..

almost the same features + an adjustable vdd voltage (chipset voltage) for 20 bucks less...

epox 8rda+ also has firewire. 2 firewire ports actually. $84 shipped from Newegg is awesome. I would definitely buy Epox and apply the difference towards better videocard or 3200 Buffalo ram.

we've been arguing about this for the past few months. Asus has improved on overclockability w/ the newer bios's. So much that it is easily par w/ the abit and epox boards. I think they are all equal and great choices. So whatever price and features suit you, go for that.

My A7N8X works great, and the newest BIOS for the older rev boards adds support the 400MHz FSB Bartons (haven't actually TRIED it with a real Barton 3200 yet because of the cost). I've used the EPoX boards in the past and they've been solid, so the 8RDA+ is a good choice too. The post code display is a great help on their boards if you have trouble getting the system up and running due to a faulty component. Plus in the past EPoX has been really good at maintaining their website and keeping the BIOSes nice and up to date, whereas Asus has website issues on a regular basis. (Go help you if you need to get a driver or a BIOS update during the Chinese New Year, when the Asus staff - even the web server admin it seems - takes the week off). I'd also recommend reading the official threads on boths boards before you buy and see what issues each board has (and which issues will affect you most directly).
