I have a Asus A7n8x deluxe motherboard and I was looking in the manual to reset my BIOS and it had a "Reset Configuration Data" option which allows me to erase any non Plug and Play software that has caused my system to not boot to the OS.

But the problem is I cannot locate this option. I went to the PnP/PCI Configurations section of my BIOS and that option is not there. What happened to it? And if it is not there is there another way that I can reset my BIOS to get rid of the add-on software without logging into Windows XP?

There is no option of any kind in the BIOS that will erase software. There is, however, a jumper that will reset the BIOS to factory defaults. Perhaps this is what you need.

Well the only problem with that idea is that for some reason this option showed up in my manual.

I tried to find another way to reset the system to factory defaults but I can't find it.

Thanks

If you have upgraded your bios Asus may have taken that option out by accident or on purpose.

If you go to nforcers HQ someone there goes through the bios and enables the options that Asus has hidden. It is called uber bios.

Like doomer already pointed out this will do nothing to software unless you are calling the bios software.

You might want to give us the bigger picture on what the actual problem is, Acoshi. Did you try to transplant your old WindowsXP installation to this new motherboard (common problem)? Or did you install a new printer or something that's caused Windows to not start? Can you start in Safe Mode?

I just bought a new computer and extra hardware that I wanted to install. So instead of putting in the new software one at a time I put the new sound card, hard drive, and RAM in all at the same time along with its software. After I had done that it the computer began to give me alot of errors and so now I cannot even log into Windows XP. It freezes at the Windows boot screen.

I tried to reload WinXP but it would come to a blue error screen telling me that I need to check for boot viruses and to remove newly installed hard drives and hard drive controllers and run chkdsk/f. I managed to remove the new hardware but it still gives me trouble. So everytime I try to reinstall WinXP I always get that blue boot screen.

I checked my hardware and the hard drive and there were not physical problems then I tried to check the BIOS and see if there was a problem but I couldn't locate one.
